This award was set up by PD In honor of Jason and his determination, we're announcing the unofficial Jason Widmer Award, for the IceCat player who shows determination, courage, and leadership during the regular season. It's not the best player of the year, it's the guy who gives us the hardest effort on a consistent basis all year....the defenseman who's diving at shots in the third period as well as the first, or the forward that crashes the net even when the team's down.....in essense, the exact OPPOSITE of the players nominated for the Haas Award. If we had this award in the past, guys like Shawn Heaphy, Nick Naumenko, Mike Buzak, Mike Manuluk would have been prime candidates. This s, we've got players like Jamie Thompson who fit the bill...
