OILERS OBTAIN BLAKE EVANS FROM ST. LOUIS

12-13-05-The Edmonton Oilers have obtained forward Blake Evans from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for future considerations.

The 6’1”, 210-pound native of Smiley, Saskatchewan is currently with the Peoria Rivermen and will remain with the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate.
Playing the last four seasons in the St. Louis organization system with stops in Worcester and Peoria of the AHL and Peoria of the ECHL, Evans has scored 56-80-136 and has 125 penalty minutes in 279 career AHL games. He has added 2-3-5 and 12 penalty minutes in 16 Calder Cup playoff games.

With Worcester in 2003-04, he scored a career-high 21-23-44 in 80 games and was named the IceCats most valuable player.

Congratulations, Curtis!  He gave a fantastic interview after the game, too!  It was nice to see our former IceCats playing in the NHL --- Jamal, Bryce, Barrett, Eric, Mike, Curtis & seeing Jason congratulate Curtis at the end.  If I'm not mistaken, I think I saw Don Granato, too, in an upper area. If only the whole city of Worcester & surrounding towns could have seen this game ---- then they might realize how important it is to have AHL hockey return to the DCU where you can see the stars of tomorrow in the NHL!

Just as a side note to what CCC posted Jeff Hoggan Jay McClement and Dennis Wideman all played in this game for the Blues.  Jason Bacashihua was the backup for Sanford.

New Blues goalie Sanford shuts out Pens

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Keith Tkachuk and Jamal Mayers each scored their eighth goals of the season and goalie Curtis Sanford made 21 saves as the St. Louis Blues shut out the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0 on Tuesday night.

The win broke the Blues' three-game losing streak and gave them only their third win at home this season and just their sixth overall, fewest in the Western Conference. The Penguins (8-17-6), meanwhile, remained stuck at eight wins, the lowest total in the Eastern Conference.

Sanford, who was making his first start since Nov. 26, improved his record to 3-4. Fleury dropped to 2-6-1 on the year despite making 39 saves.

... Goalie Patrick Lalime, who cleared waivers Tuesday, was assigned to Peoria of the American Hockey League. St. Louis recalled goalie Jason Bacashihua to take his roster spot. .. Former Blues player Eric Boguniecki returned to St. Louis for the first time since being traded last week.

I do. I pray every night that Sanford will be in net, and deflect a puck into the stands which hits Larry Pleau right between the eyes.  Ooops, I mean, ...did I say that out loud?

I wonder how many people here really care about the Blues and/or Larry Pleau....

The Blues do it again

Boguniecki for STEVE POAPST, wow what a trade!

Almost as good as Smrek for Gusarov

or..

Nagy, Handzus, Taffe, and draft pick for Tkachuk

or..

Reasoner, Hecht, Horacek (no big loss) for Weight and Mike Riesen

or..

Papineau and 2nd round pick for Osgood

or..

Van Ryn for Valeri Bure

and those are only the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Prospects ( I know Bogie isnt a prospect but..) for guys with only a few years (if that) left in them. Unbelivable!
