I've never been embarassed to be a Cats' fan

...until this afternoon.

Totally classless to boo the Canadian National Anthem.

I don't care if they boo'd our's somewhere else. I don't care what bulls--t logic you can come up with to justify those morons' actions. It was low class and embarrasing.

For the first time I can say I'm almost ashamed to be an IceCats' fan.

I agree wholeheartedly.  I was at the playoff games last year when the Toronto and Islander fans booed eachother's anthems.

You know what I feel though, is that all it takes is a few morons to get things going and make everyone look bad.

I would HOPE the majority of people did not act like suck morons.

I totally agree with ya 210 and Rob. Booing a national anthem (no matter what country) is low and down right disgusting. Just because other teams' fans have booed the anthems doesn't give our fans one ounce of right to boo the Canadian anthem. Some of these people just need to grow up.

I have never seen anything so disgraceful and disrepectful in all my life.  Those fans that were booing should be hanging there heads in shame and HOW DARE they make the rest of the fans look bad. SUCH BAD TASTE!

I agree and let me say being from Canada (Callander Ontario, Home of Steve Mclaren) that I felt totally horrible that the Canadian's fans booed the Americian anthem.  I don't care if you agree with the war or not, what point did it serve.  None except make the rest of us look bad.  So on behalf of the majority of the fans North of the Border.  I Apologies.

Now that being said do you think that they should stop playing the anthems before the games?

Well said, 210!

My temper got fierce in last nights game, and it started with the idiots behind me booing the national anthem for Canada.  Two wrongs do not make a right.

And by booing that national anthem, you just insulted a majority of the IceCats team.   Shame on the ignorant people in the stands.   It took all I had not to turn around and throw some nasty words out.

Makes me glad I stayed home to do yard work instead!  Unreal, some people have no class at all!  I don't know what some people are thinking when they do things like this, a total disgrace.

I'm with the rest of you. Not that it's any excuse, and I'm not sure if there was more that one group of people booing, but in my section, 121, the group of fans that were booing were a bunch of early 20's boys. Just goes to show how disrespetctful some of todays you really are. And DKL has a good point there are a good number of IceCats from Canada so they probably offended them in the process. Not Cool.

I appreciated the response of the fans in this forum to the booing of the Canadian National Anthem. I cringed when I heard that the American Anthem had been booed in a city in Canada. It is interesting that two cities in Canada(Montreal being one) had the crowd actually cheering the American National Anthem as an expression of our affection for the U.S.A. Too often we hear the negative side but there are many in Canada who appreciate our Amercian friends. My daughter lives there and loves the country. Thanks for your support.

I'm with you 210!  My wife had just mentioned that others had booed somewhere else and I was totally disgusted by it happening in "our house".  Grow up people.  Absolutely classless.

I don't even want to begin to go off on this. I was totally dissapointed with the group of people I saw booing and turning around during the singing of the Canadian anthem. It was just iggnorant and disrespectful.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who was disgusted by the booing of the Canadian National Anthem.  Where I was sitting, it was a small group of 20 something boys booing.  I do not agree with or appreciate the Montreal fans booing our National Anthem either. However, what happened at the Centrum yesterday was just as disgraceful. My apologies to the Canadian players (both Flames and Icecats alike), for the behavior of the few ignorant fans.

As a Canadian living in the States and having season tickets to a great team like the Ice Cats I must say I was a little disapointed by the booing of the National Anthem yesterday.  The United States and Canada are both wonderful counties and this type of thing just shouldn't happen, but when it does I think it is important to remember it is the few ignorant and not the mojority.

From the sound of these posts I really respect the ice cats fan forum for realizing how utterly pointless it is to blame hockey fans or players for the actions of world leaders everywhere. We are the real fabric of our nations and we should teach them kids to respect our hockey players regardless of their homeland.

I just want to say that not all Canadians are as ignorant as the people in Montreal.  We were just as appalled and embarrassed as you were.  The following night at the Oilers game, the American anthem was played and we clapped and cheered through the whole thing...with even more excitement than our own!  It is always the case that a few wreck it for the whole...on behalf of all Canadians, sorry for the ignorance of those people in Montreal and thank you for what you are doing for the rest of the world.

This year at the annual IceCats Booster Club spring awards banquet, the national anthems for both Canada and the US were played with the respect that both anthems deserve.   I hope that the playing of both anthems will continue at future banquets.
